Tēnā koutou katoa,
It is a privilege to serve the Ruawai College whānau as Tumuaki / Principal. My name is Aidyn Rasmussen, and I am incredibly proud to be part of a school that is deeply connected to its people, place, and future.

During my time at Ruawai College, I have seen firsthand the strength of this community and the potential of our young people. I remain deeply committed to ensuring Ruawai College is a place where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to nurture confident, resilient young people who respect others, value learning, and are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
My connection with Ruawai College actually began many years before arriving here. When I was a Geography teacher at Onehunga High School, both schools would take Year 12 Geography camps to Ruapehu. Even then, I was impressed by the Ruawai students. They demonstrated curiosity, resilience, and a genuine love for learning. Those qualities remain part of the character of our kura today.
Outside of school, I have a strong passion for family, travel, and food. I enjoy exploring new places, learning about different languages and cultures, and spending time with my whānau.
I value the strong relationships we share across our community. By working together with our students, staff, whānau, and the wider community, we will continue strengthening a culture of care, respect, and high expectations. These relationships allow our school to grow and ensure every learner feels supported to succeed.
Thank you for the support you continue to show our kura. I look forward to continuing the journey together as we build a thriving school community.
Nāku noa,
Aidyn Rasmussen
