RCE: Aviation Academy

Our Aviation Enrichment Programme provides students with unique opportunities to develop their aviation knowledge and skills in a structured and supportive learning environment. Catering to all levels of experience, the programme includes aviation theory, simulator training, and hands-on learning experiences, with opportunities to engage in aviation-related excursions, airfield visits, and inter-school events.

The programme is run by a local Aero Club, which brings a strong background in aviation education and flight operations. This ensures students receive high-quality, industry-aligned instruction. With a strong focus on responsibility, confidence, and technical competence, the programme supports both academic and personal development, offering a dynamic extension for students passionate about aviation.

For students between the ages of 14-18 they will be enrolled in ‘The Young Eagles program’. The Royal New Zealand Aero Club (Flying NZ) adapted the EAA program to suit the New Zealand environment and the existing Aero Club structure. The recommended age for participating is 14 – 18 years. The Young Eagles program includes various activities designed to interest and teach the participants throughout the program to maintain their interest and improve their skill level.

For international students, the Aviation Enrichment option is delivered as a block course once a week and may include optional trips to airports, aviation schools, or industry facilities.
