Ruawai College is committed to helping your child be ready to learn. 

Year 7 and 9 students joining us from feeder schools in 2026 are eligible for our RC Entrance Scholarship. There is also a limited number of scholarships available for new enrolments at other Year levels.

Enrol by the end of 2025 for the 2026 school year to be eligible for our RC Entrance Scholarship. Scholarship Eligibility & Process:
RC Entrance Scholarships are awarded to all students starting from a feeder school in 2026 as a Year 7 (from a Year 1 to 6 school) or Year 9 (from a Year 1 to 8 school), ensuring access to key basics for families during this time of transition to secondary school. 

Key Criteria:

  • Scholarships are only open to New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents
  • Students currently in Year 6 or Year 8 or Year 9-13 (for Year 6 or Year 8, this is feeder school dependent)
    • If your child currently attends a Year 1–6 primary school, they are eligible to receive the Entrance Scholarship when enrolling in Year 7
    • If your child currently attends a Year 1–8 primary school, they are eligible to receive the Entrance Scholarship when enrolling in Year 9
    • If your child is enrolling into Years 9 to 13, please indicate if you are applying for the Entrance Scholarship when completing their enrolment form, and we will be in touch with an outcome when scholarships are finalised
  • Students currently attending Ruawai College are not eligible
  • Scholarships are only available to students who start at Ruawai College from 2026

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does the RC Entrance Scholarship include?
The scholarship will pay for:

  • One set of school uniform (one school jacket, one school jumper, two polo shirts, one pair of shorts or pants, two pairs of socks, and one PE shirt)
  • Any applicable bus fees (if applicable)
  • Stationery costs for their first year 
  • Access to a school device, such as a Chromebook

Can the RC Entrance Scholarship items be transferred for credit or money?
The RC Entrance Scholarship cannot be transferred to school credit or cash. Any unused aspects of the scholarship that are not applicable (such as the bus fees) are not redeemable in any other way and would not form part of the scholarship package offered.

How do I know if my child is eligible?
Your child is eligible for the Entrance Scholarship if they are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident and are enrolling at Ruawai College for the first time in 2026. Eligibility also depends on the year level they are entering:
– Year 7 students coming from a Year 1–6 school
– Year 9 students coming from a Year 1–8 school
Students enrolling on Years 9–13 may also be considered—please indicate interest on the enrolment form.
