Vacancy – Senior School Leader (Non-Teaching)

We are excited to be offering a rare opportunity for a future focused support staff super star to join our vibrant college in the beautiful Kaipara.  This unique position is seeking applications from motivated, strategic focused professionals who believe they can make a difference to the Kaipara youth as part of the Ruawai College Senior School Leadership team. 

Applications for a member to join our school as a Senior School Leader are sought from future focussed professionals who:

  • Will have strong pastoral and administrative skills
  • Able to work with key stakeholders across the community (via the Kaipara Alternative Education Consortium)

Dimensions of this role:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and support the Kaipara Alternative Education Consortium by establishing robust processes and supporting staff to embed these. This will involve travel between the three schools in the consortium and other Consortium places of learning
  • Operational Leadership: Run the enrolment scheme for the Kaipara Alternative Education Consortium. This will involve regular case management meetings and cluster group hui
  • Organisational Leadership: Hold school wide portfolios that support the strategic direction of the school. These could be (but may not be limited to) Education outside the Classroom (EOTC), Health and Safety, Positive Behaviour for Learning, ‘a connected school‘ strategic plan focus of delivery etc
  • Staff Management: Provide leadership and support to teaching and support staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration
  • Student Support: Ensure the well-being and success of all students by implementing effective support systems and interventions
  • Community Engagement: Build strong partnerships with parents, community members, and stakeholders to enhance the overall educational experience
  • Financial Management: Manage budgetary resources effectively and allocate funds strategically to support educational priorities

Pay details:

This role is suitable for support staff to apply for. 

  • Support Staff Pay grade will be determined by the matrix within the SSiS CA.  Hours per year (term time or 52 week contract) by negotiation as per the SSiS CA

2.2 APPOINTMENTS

  • 2.2.1 Where an employer intends to fill a position that is vacant in the school (other than with a fixed term employee) the employer shall wherever practicable, notify or advertise the vacancy in a manner sufficient to enable suitably qualified persons to apply for the position. We will do this on our website, social media channels and may engage newspapers and/or recruitment agencies.

 

  • 2.2.2 Attention is drawn to s 603 of the Education and Training Act 2020 insofar as it provides that the person best suited to the position shall be appointed. In applying that provision the employer will have regard to the experience, qualifications and abilities relevant to the position and such other relevant matters as it determines. We will do this by having a robust application process that prompts applicants to read the position description as well as our strategic plan. We will have an experienced and diverse panel conducting shortlisting and interviews. Should an internal candidate apply we will operate a ‘chinese wall’ approach. 

 

  • 2.2.3 Every appointee to a vacancy shall be notified in writing of the following (below). We will do this by ensuring that points A-D below are in the letter of offer that is then signed by the successful candidate.
  1. the appointment; and
  2. the grade, step and pay rate/salary to be paid for the position; and 
  3. the hours and weeks to be worked; and
  4. whether the appointment is fixed term (see clause 2.3.3 below) or permanent.
