Mathematics and Statistics

You only have to know one thing – you can learn anything (Khan Academy)

In Mathematics we interpret, describe, explain, question, analysis, critique, debate, justify, predict to lead to generalizations and solve problems.

The aim of the Mathematics Department is to cultivate a curiosity of mathematics in every student and for each student to become a problem solver. For students to have the ability and inclination to use mathematics effectively – at home, at work and in the community.

“By studying mathematics and statistics, students develop the ability to think creatively, critically, strategically and logically. They learn to structure and to organize, to carry out procedures flexibly and accurately, to process and communicate information, and to enjoy the intellectual challenge.” –New Zealand Curriculum
